야곱이 죽자, 요셉의 형제들은 두려움에 사로잡혔습니다. "이제 요셉이 우리에게 복수하겠지." 수십 년 전 그들은 요셉을 구덩이에 던지고 노예로 팔았습니다. 그 죄책감은 사라지지 않았습니다. 용서를 받았음에도, 그들은 여전히 요셉을 믿지 못했습니다.

요셉은 "나중에 하나님이 수습하셨다"고 말하지 않았습니다. 하나님은 처음부터, 영원 전부터 선을 의도하셨습니다. '바꾸사'라는 표현은 사후 수습이 아니라, 인간의 악의 한가운데서 이미 작동하고 계셨던 하나님의 영원한 섭리를 가리킵니다. 형들의 악의도 사실이었고, 하나님의 섭리도 사실이었습니다. 이 두 가지는 동시에 완전히 참입니다. 야곱의 삶이 그 증거입니다. 실패와 죄로 점철되었던 그의 길이 결국 메시아의 계보로 이어졌습니다. 하나님의 섭리에 플랜 B는 없습니다. 인간의 어떤 악의나 심지어 자기 자신의 실패조차도 하나님 안에 있는 삶을 침몰시킬 수는 없습니다.

셋째, 하나님의 사랑으로 사랑하십시오.
"내가 당신들과 당신들의 자녀를 기르리이다."(창 50:21)
요셉은 단순히 적대감을 거둔 것에 그치지 않고, 먼저 형들을 향해 다가갔습니다. 히브리어 원문은 이를 "그들의 마음에 위로의 말을 건넸다"고 표현합니다. 이는 깊은 겸손과 담대한 확신을 동시에 요구합니다. 겸손은 '나 역시 오직 은혜로만 서 있음'을 아는 것이고, 확신은 '하나님의 사랑이 내 행위에 달려 있지 않음'을 아는 것입니다. 이 둘이 함께할 때, 비로소 나에게 상처 입힌 사람을 향해 나아갈 수 있습니다.

복음: 더 크신 요셉
요셉이 "내가 하나님을 대신하리이까?"라고 물었을 때, 그 대답은 분명 '아니오'였습니다. 그러나 참으로 하나님의 자리에 계셔야 할 분이 이 땅에 오셨습니다. 그분은 심판의 보좌에 앉으실 정당한 권리가 있으셨지만, 친히 그 자리에서 내려와 십자가를 지셨습니다. 십자가는 인류 역사상 가장 큰 악이 자행된 사건인 동시에, 가장 위대한 신적 사랑이 확증된 사건입니다. 예수님은 창세기 50장 20절의 말씀을 몸소 살아내셨습니다.

십자가는 우리에게 요셉보다 더 깊은 겸손을 줍니다. 우리의 죄가 하나님의 아들의 죽음을 요구할 만큼 무거웠음을 깨닫게 하기 때문입니다. 또한 더 큰 확신을 줍니다. 하나뿐인 아들을 아끼지 않으신 하나님께서 우리를 위해 모든 것을 내어주셨음을 보여주기 때문입니다. 이 겸손과 확신이 우리를 요셉보다 더 위대한 삶으로 인도합니다. 오직 은혜로 말입니다.

You seek out data that agrees with your view.

You go with the team’s consensus.

4. Authority Bias
You trust “experts” without questioning
their logic or evidence.

5. Anchoring Bias
You let the first number or idea
influence the rest of the negotiation.

6. Availability Bias
You overreact to what’s most vivid.
Not what’s most important.

7. Recency Bias
You put too much weight on the latest event.
And miss the bigger picture.

8. Status Quo Bias
You stick with what's familiar.
Even if it's no longer working.

9. Sunk Cost Fallacy
You keep investing in a losing path.
Because you’ve already sunk so much into it.

10. Survivorship Bias
You study only the winners.
And miss the lessons from those who failed.

These biases don’t make you a bad CEO.
They make you human.

But awareness gives you leverage.

When you catch them in action, give yourself a chance to:

Why Some People Actually Love Being Alone — And What Their Brains Know That Yours Might Not

There's a quiet kind of person you've probably met — maybe you even are that person. They don't fill every silence with noise. They don't reach for their phone the moment they're alone. They seem genuinely at peace in their own company.

For a long time, we assumed these people were just wired that way — introverts, loners, the strong silent types. But neuroscience is telling a very different and far more hopeful story.

Over the past two decades, brain imaging research from institutions like UCLA, the University of Chicago, and Cambridge University has revealed something remarkable: people who thrive in solitude aren't just personality types. Their brains are operating differently across five specific neural systems. And the most exciting part? Those systems can be developed by anyone.

Solitude Is Not Loneliness

Before we go further, it's worth drawing a line that matters deeply. Loneliness is the ache of unwanted isolation — that hollow feeling of being cut off from others. Solitude, on the other hand, is a choice. It's the quiet room you walk into willingly, and find nourishing rather than empty.

For many faith traditions, this distinction is ancient wisdom. The desert fathers and mothers sought it. Jesus withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16). Thomas Merton wrote entire books about it. What neuroscience is now confirming, the spiritually wise have long known: time alone, chosen freely and engaged with intention, is not deprivation — it's formation.

The prophet Elijah discovered this the hard way. Burned out and running on empty after a season of intense spiritual battle, he collapsed under a broom tree and asked to die (1 Kings 19:4). God's response wasn't a pep talk or a crowd. It was rest, food, and quiet — and then a gentle whisper in the stillness. Solitude wasn't Elijah's problem. It was part of his healing.

Sometimes the most powerful leadership move isn’t taking the shot—it’s giving it away. I’m reflecting on a recent moment from Son Heung-min in Mexico City and what it teaches us about "multiplying influence" through trust.

In the heat of a match in Mexico City, Son Heung-min stood over the ball.

A penalty kick.

A guaranteed moment of personal glory.

But he stepped back—and handed the ball to his teammate.

This is leadership.

Not the kind that demands the spotlight, but the kind that creates the space for others to inhabit it.

In coaching, we often see this. High-capacity leaders feel the weight of performing, delivering, and carrying the team. But real growth doesn’t happen when one person shines; it happens when others are trusted to rise.

How do we coach leaders into this posture? Not by telling them to “do less,” but by helping them see more.

The Growth Gap: In what ways might your need to perform be limiting someone else’s development?

The Trust Shift: What would it look like to transfer trust instead of just control?

The Opportunity: Who around you is ready—but just needs the ball?

The Legacy: What kind of leader are you forming through your decisions in these small moments?

Son didn’t lose influence in that moment. He multiplied it.

In leadership—and in life coaching—sometimes the most powerful move isn't taking the shot. It's giving it away.

What is one "shot" you can hand over to someone else today?

In John 21:1–14, the disciples work all night in the place they know best, using the skills they already have, and still come up empty. Then, at daybreak, the risen Jesus stands on the shore. He speaks. He provides. He invites: “Come and have breakfast.”

So often, our clients come to coaching after a long night of effort. They have tried harder, pushed longer, repeated familiar patterns, and still feel stuck. Coaches are called to cultivate trust, stay present, evoke awareness, and facilitate growth. John 21 reminds me that this work is not about pointing out people's empty nets. It is about creating space where deeper truth can be recognized.

Jesus begins with presence.
He does not humiliate. He reveals.
He prepares nourishment.

As coaches, we do not play the role of savior. But we can reflect the posture of Christ:
to be present without panic,
to listen beneath performance,
to help clients notice where self-reliance has run its course,
and to ask the kind of questions that open the door to deeper awareness.

The breakthrough is not “try harder.”
It is:
Where have you been living on competence alone?
What has your empty net been trying to teach you?
What if the disappointment is not proof of abandonment, but an invitation to deeper dependence?
What might it look like to receive before striving again?

John 21 reminds us that fruitfulness does not finally come from experience, effort, or habit. It comes from the Lord.

올림픽보다 경쟁자가 더 많은 것이 우리 인생입니다. 소치올림픽보다 더 편파 판정이 많은 것이 우리 사회입니다. 올림픽에 도전하는 선수가 코치도 없이 하는 것을 무모하다고 생각하는 것이 상식인데 놀랍게도 올림픽보다 더 중요한 우리 인생에 있어서 라이프 코치를 곁에 둘 수 있다는 것은 아직도 많은 사람들에게 인식이 잘 되지 않고 있습니다. 마치 스마트폰이 처음 나왔을 때처럼 말입니다.

아마 제가 20년 전에 “여러분, 미래에는 초등학생도 손에 ‘스마트폰’이라는 것을 들고 다니는데 그것으로 동영상도 찍어서 온 세상에 보여주는 세상이 됩니다”라고 말했다면 어떻게 들으셨을까요? 요즘은 스마트폰 없는 초등학생이 상상이 가질 않는 세상이 되었습니다만 여러분은 언제부터 스마트폰을 사용하시기 시작했을까요?
